The Alumni
Academy of the Faculty of Law of the University of Montenegro organized a round
table entitled "Unlocking the power of ADR: How to design a robust dispute
resolve clause?", in cooperation with by the recognized international
arbitration institution VIAC - Vienna International Arbitral Centre, whose seat
is in Vienna.The round table was held on October 6, 2023, at 11 a.m., in Hall
III of the Faculty of Law of the University of Montenegro. The dean of the
Faculty of Law and the ambassador of VIAC for Montenegro, prof. Dr. Aneta
Spaić, Adv. Đorđe Novčić (JPM & Partners), Adv. Lana Vukmirović Mišić (LVM
Law office - JPM Partners), Fahira Brodlija (GIZ), Vesko Božović (Arbitration
Court PKCG), Maja Golović Vojinović (Arbitration Court PKCG), as well as the
secretary general of VIAC, Niamh Leinwather.The event was attended by numerous
representatives of the business community, lawyers, bank employees, judges of
the Commercial and Supreme Courts, as well as numerous undergraduate and
graduate students of the Faculty of Law.The round table gave the participants
an insight into the challenges of formulating a reliable clause for resolving
disputes, but also ways to reduce the fear of concluding so-called pathological
clauses. There was talk about trends when it comes to the method of settling
investment disputes, with special reference to the area of the Western
Balkans. Round which also enabled a closer acquaintance with the way VIAC works
as one of the leading arbitration institutions on the international level.
